The program provides a balance of unstructured and structured, active and quiet
Choice Time: Learning Centers are set up around the room for children to
Large Group Activities: A time to discuss the daily theme, sing songs, read
Small Group Activity: One teacher works with a small group of children,
focusing on a specific skill. This may involve art, science, games, or movement
activities that incorporate the skill.
Snack: Parents provide a healthy snack for the class on a rotating schedule.
Outdoor Play: We have a fenced in playground behind the school. Play
equipment includes a sandbox, play house, crawl tube and much
more. It is an opportunity for children to use outside voices, release energy and
develop gross motor skills.
Village Green is a family oriented school. We offer a program that invites the
whole family to become involved.

The Therese MacCallum Lending Library contains a large collection
of books for children to choose from. Children visit the library once
a week to borrow a book.
The library also offers a parent section that includes parenting
books, picture books for parents to read to children dealing with
such issues as moving, new sibling and death. We also have
science, math, music and literacy kits for parents to explore with
Bedtime Story Time
Families participate in an evening of stories and songs. Teacher’s present stories in various formats to show parents how stories are
presented in the classroom. Families also sing along to our favorite preschool songs.
Families are invited to join us during class time to learn some of the songs taught in class followed by holiday treats.
Dessert for Dudes
This is an evening for children to invite that special guy in their life to join us for some fun sports games and an ice cream!
Mother’s Day Tea
Our tea is a daytime event the week before Mother’s Day. Moms or grandma, or a special lady, are treated to a video of the children,
songs, and a snack prepared by the children.
Our annual dance is organized by parent volunteers that plan a theme, food and decorations. It is a favorite event and a great way to
end the school year.
Our 4 year old classes choose their favorite songs and poems for their graduation program. This is a big family event on the last day of
Children visit their “Grandfriends” at the Lincoln Lewis Elderly
Housing complex. Throughout the year we visit our Grandfriends for
fun activities such as holiday parties,
reading, art activities, and games.
